Composition of Elk Velvet Antler
Glucosamine
An amino sugar that occurs naturally in the body and is a major basic nutrient used in the production, maintenance and repair of joint structures including cartilage, bone, tendon, ligaments and joint fluids. It is also a component of synovial fluid, which lubricates and serves as a shock absorber for the joints. Glucosamine supports the repair of damaged cartilage, building new cartilage, cushioning joints, and joint mobility and flexibility.
Chondroitin
Extremely potent joint mobility agent. Chondroitin gives cartilage elasticity and helps prevent the destruction of cartilage by enzymes.
The most prominent GAG in Velvet Antler tissue is chondroitin sulphate (CS). As potent anti-inflammatory agents, CS and glucosamine are used today by patients who have arthritis.
IGF-1 and IGF-2
These are naturally occurring substances required for cellular growth and the regulation of a variety of cellular processes. Elk Velvet Antler contains both IGF-1 and IGF-2.
IGF-1 supports tissue growth, organ health, supports healthy blood sugar levels and has been shown to support muscle growth, the regeneration of nerve tissue and encourage the absorption of Chondroitin Sulphate and Glucosamine Sulphate. IGF-2 supports tissue growth and the development and function of the organs such as the brain, liver and kidney. As we grow older our body produces less of these substances.
Glycosaminoglycans
Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are combinations of proteins and sugars found in a variety of tissues, blood plasma, joints, and the mucosal (mucous membrane) lining of a variety of organs, including the gastrointestinal tract and the bladder. Because GAGs are highly polar and attract water, they are used in the body as a lubricant or shock absorber. A major GAG, chondroitin sulphate, has clinically been shown to be a useful treatment for arthritis.
Proteins
The main structural part in cells that aid tissue growth and repair. Protein is composed of amino acids, which are organic compounds made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen or sulphur. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and proteins are the building blocks of muscle mass, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Amino Acids
Amino acids, often referred to as the building blocks of proteins, are compounds that play many critical roles in our body. They’re needed for vital processes like the building of proteins and synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters. Some may also be taken in supplement form for a natural way to boost athletic performance or improve mood. They are classified as essential, conditionally essential or nonessential.
Glycine and proline are major amino acids found in Elk Velvet Antler, reflecting its high collagen content. Elk Velvet Antler is also rich in glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, arginine and leucine.
Collagen
Is the main protein of connective tissue within the body widely recognized for the promotion of healthily skin and hair. It is also the vital structural protein component of bones, tendons, ligaments and cartilage, providing elasticity. Collagen provides the body with shock absorbing properties and is the major framework that holds the cells together. Collagen is required for the synthesis of joint cartilage and the repair of tissue damage.
Benefits of Collagen
Collagen is a major constituent of Elk Velvet Antler, consistent with its nature as a cartilaginous tissue. Four types of collagen (I, II, III and X) have been identified.
Lipids
Essential for cell growth and energy storage. Lipids build cell components and boost energy levels to enhance cellular activities. Elk Velvet Antler contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) that cannot be constructed within the body so must be obtained externally. The lipid fraction of Velvet Antler is highly complex. Studies indicate that free fatty acids, mono-, di- and triglycerides, neutral lipids, gangliosides, lecithin, cephalin, phospholipids, cholesterol, steroids and prostaglandins have been detected. These lipids have also been extracted and identified in Velvet Antler in multiple studies.
Minerals/Trace Elements
Elk Velvet Antler contains a variety of beneficial minerals including:
CALCIUM - supports a strong skeletal structure; necessary to regulate normal sinus heart rhythm, aid in muscle function, regulate blood pressure & blood clotting, assists nerve conduction and nerve impulses.
PHOSPHORUS - supports the functioning of skeletal structure and organs such as brain, heart, kidneys and liver, helps hormone balance, boosts energy levels, and helps move and contract muscles effectively.
POTASSIUM - essential for electrolyte balance, essential to formation of muscle tissue and assists muscle and nerve functions.
SODIUM - allows the body to maintain normal fluid and electrolyte balance and assists in muscle and nerve action.
MAGNESIUM - helps cells restore and release energy for regular muscle and nerve function, assists in binding calcium in our bones and teeth, necessary for muscle action and nervous system, and helps convert blood sugar to energy.
TRACE MINERALS
Velvet Antler contains Iron, Zinc, Copper, Sulphur, Manganese, Selenium and Cobalt.
Prostaglandins
Are chemical regulators produced in all tissues that support nerve conduction and cellular health, maintain tissues such as the lining of the stomach, support blood clotting and involved in the stimulation of cells into action.
Phospholipids
In order to repair the structural damage caused by free radicals, pathogens and toxins, your body requires a constant supply of phospholipids. Elk Velvet Antler supplements provide essential phospholipids not synthesized by the body.
